I would say if you can follow the Keto diet precisely, it is the most efficient diet for burning fat. Which is what you are trying to do. Losing “weight” is not necessarily the objective. Losing fat is. Keto IS NOT the best diet for maintenance and a lifestyle. For that, slow carb is much better because it is much less strict and you get a “cheat day” once a week. No such thing as a cheat day in Keto unless you want to stop your progress for a week or two. If you have a lot of fat to lose, start with Keto and transition into slow carb.

Basically, if you are not serious about your diet, leave Keto to responsible people. You need an app to record your food intake , a scale, knowledge of the food you can eat and you should avoid (google it , 10 minutes reading) and average discipline.
Or you can keep thinking that what you eat and your diet is not so important for your well being.

1lb of fat is around 9,000 calories? isnt 1 lb – 454g and isnt 1g of fat roughly 9cals? that would mean 1lb of fat = 4kcalories… can someone explain how he got 9kcalories?

Complex carbs, i.e. slow carbs, are very important. Fiber and a low glycemic index are key to maintaining ketosis. I have appx 100g total complex carbs daily and maintain ketosis. Fiber is the main key.

Everyone should just check out Brad's Eat Stop Eat protocol. Don't worry too much what you eat (just eat as clean as you can), and do 1 or 2 24hr fasts each week. It works!

Tim, the Keto diet/lifestyle is not nearly as complex and exacting as you make out. However it's true that there are some basic principles to get right. A great source for clear, good information on keto is Dr Eric Westman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_bdziQZS98

Can I just argue here? The data says if you fast, especially for several consecutive days, you WIL burn fat. A lot of it. Your resting metabolic rate, and the maintenance of the body alone requires energy. If there's none coming in, the body will burn the fat reserves. Dear fabulous Tim, how can you state that you won't burn fat in a multiple day fast?

That's all very funny Tim
Why take exogenous ketones if it's possible to train your body to go into ketosis by fasting occasionally. This is a normal condition for the human body, achieved due to necessity by our ancestors, and achieved with a bit of discipline in our day. The 9 day fast story is amazing. You lose me on keto diets and exogenous ketones. You are amazing, of course, and I'm going to look into which of your books to buy , while during and after doing all those push-ups I do, it is great to get a bit of confirmation from a great mind as yourself that making my bed in the morning (always do it) and the push-ups (start my day), journalling, etc, is something you recommend. Thanks

You always see "keto eyes" on people following keto and carnivore diets. Discolouration or bags around eyes. This is due to load on kidneys (protein) and liver (fat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al6giDfoGIA
