Here’s a whole week of keto and low carb friendly meal options. These easy keto recipes inspire me to get in the kitchen and prep my weekly meals for weight loss. I hope this Keto Dinner Ideas video gives you some dinner inspiration and helps those of you who follow a keto diet and live a keto lifestyle. These low carb recipes are perfect for doing your weekly keto meal prep and batch cooking.

First up, I made some low-carb garlic chicken. I used chicken leg quarters for this recipe which really made it budget friendly. Next up, I prepared a broccoli, sausage, and cauliflower gratin. It was outta this world and I really think the secret to it was the sauteed leek! It also stored and reheated super well and tasted even better after sitting in the fridge a couple days. I will definitely be making this again! Next, I made a slow-cooked pork roast. I used the crockpot to slow cook it and then added a rub before finishing it in the oven. The creamy gravy was a perfect compliment to the roast and it’s another recipe I’ll be making again. Finally, to finish out the week of meal prep, I baked some Pollock, that has just been taking up space in the freezer, and served it over a simple salad.

On the Mayo Clinic Radio podcast, Katherine Zeratsky, a Mayo Clinic registered dietician nutritionist, discusses the keto diet and compare it with other popular diet plans, including the Mediterranean diet; Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, also known as the “DASH diet”; and the Mayo Clinic diet.

This interview originally aired Feb. 16, 2019.

In 2018, the ketogenic or “keto” diet topped the list of trending health-related questions searched on Google. The keto diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. The idea is that getting most of your calories from fat forces your body to use different energy pathways. Instead of carbs for energy, the body burns fat, entering a state called “ketosis.” While the ketogenic diet may be recommended for some people with uncontrolled epilepsy to help control seizures, for most people the high fat content combined with limits on nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables and grains is a concern for long-term heart health.

Hey guys! I am back with the next installment of my diet review series. This week I am covering the incredibly popular ketogenic diet. Within the last year or two, the keto diet has soared in popularity and I can understand why. It is a simple diet where counting calories isn’t important (who wants to count calories) and you get to eat a bunch of really delicious foods.

If you are curious, the name of the diet comes from the ketone bodies produced within your body as a result of switching your body to fuel itself through fats instead of carbs. This is also referred to as a state of ketosis.

I know many of you want to lose weight and there are tons of videos on weight loss out there. But I want to give you an honest doctor’s take on the keto diet, which is essentially a high fat low carb diet. Its claim to fame is that helps to burn body fat for energy, therefore helping you lose weight quickly. But is fast weight loss even healthy? + Is this the best weight loss diet?

Anyway, I could go into more detail covering the smallest intricacies of the diet but I did not want to weigh down the video, both literally and figuratively. Please let me know if this is too little, too much, or just the right amount of information about intermittent fasting.
